Hi,

I’m Bianca—an avid traveler, lover of God’s magnificent creation, cat mom, and sister in Christ. I grew up in a tiny town with a population of just 5,000, but I was fortunate that my mom and step dad believed in showing us a world far beyond its borders. They took my siblings and me on family vacations, mostly cruises, which sparked a lifelong curiosity about the world and developed my desire for adventure.

Growing up, my mom also read to me every night. My favorite books were about people from different cultures, stories that transported me to faraway places. I dreamed of standing in awe before the Taj Mahal, exploring the Grand Canyon, and walking among the Pyramids of Egypt. Alongside those books, my mom also read the Bible to me, laying a solid foundation of faith that I’m forever grateful for. I’d love for you to read “Bianca: A Short Testimony” to see how God has been a pivotal part of my life.

My first taste of solo travel came in college when a friend invited me to visit her home country, Ecuador. At the time, I was working part-time as a waitress, so I had just enough saved to make the trip happen. When I mentioned to another friend that the plane ticket cost $800 round trip, he said, “Do you know how big of a TV I could buy with that?” At the time, I didn’t have the words to explain why his comment didn’t sit right with me, but a few weeks later, I came across a quote that said, Experiences > Things. That simple phrase perfectly captured what I’d felt at the time. Joy in my life seemed less about what I could buy but what I could see and who I could meet.

That world view has been the thread connecting all of my career choices as well. First as a waitress which helped me get comfortable speaking to strangers, a skill that’s been invaluable in everything I’ve done since. Then, as a flight attendant, I hiked mountains, walked through dozens of markets, saw the Mediterranean Sea, Cuban beaches, and filled up my passport with countries I’d read about as a child. Later, I became a real estate photographer during Covid. It gave me the privilege of photographing hundreds of architecturally stunning homes, each one with a unique expression of interior design and creativity waiting for me on the inside.

Right now, I work at a college, a position I chose largely because of its incredible benefit of seven weeks paid vacation. That decision has not only given me time to travel and explore but has also provided the clarity and space to plan my next career move. My life has always been about discovery, it’s the places God allows me to visit, the financial wisdom He’s allowed me to find, and the people I’ve met throughout my life. While I write most of The DINK and SINK Advantage’s articles, my husband is my editor, travel partner, and best friend. He’ll be adding his intro soon.

Before marriage, I never really had a proper budget—I saved, tithed, and called it a day. But combining incomes sparked a desire to build a life we love together. That’s how I became the CFO of our household. Over the past two months, I’ve been writing articles on what we’ve learned about finances, travel, and living intentionally as a couple without kids. Being a childfree Christian isn’t something you hear about often, but here we are! And if you’ve ever felt like the odd one out in church or society for being childfree, you’re not alone! I hope you’ll join us as we build a community that explores what it means to honor God on a path less traveled.

Thanks for reading a story from Childfree Christians—choosing joy, purpose, and a whole lot of freedom.
